The Husband Store

A brand new store has just opened in New York City that sells Husbands.
When women go to choose a husband, they have to follow the instructions at the entrance:

You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are 6 floors and the value of
the products increase as you ascend the flights. You may choose any item
from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you
CANNOT go back down except to exit the building.

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.
The 1st floor sign on the door reads:
Floor 1: These men have jobs.
The 2nd floor sign reads:
Floor 2: These men have Jobs and Love Kids.
The 3rd floor sign reads:
Floor 3: These men have Jobs, Love Kids and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the 4th floor and the sign reads:
Floor 4: These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and help with Housework. "Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!"
Still, she goes to the 5th floor and sign reads:
Floor 5: These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, help with Housework and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the 6th floor and the sign reads:
Floor 6: You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor.
There are no men on this floor.
This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opens a New Wives store just across the street.
The 1st first floor has wives that love sex.
The 2nd floor has wives that love sex and have money.
The 3rd,4th, 5th and 6th floors have never been visited.

Tri Series Final : Is India Ready ?

India finally managed to reach the finals thanks to the brilliant batting effort by Virendra Sehwag and some really positive bowling by the seamers. But the question is whether this team is ready for the Finals that will start in some time from now. I am afraid the answer is no. Team India is not at all in form specially in batting they have not done anything so far and that for me is the major concern. If you take out Sehwag from the equation then all the others are struggling for form. Even the opening slot is missing the sting with Dinesh having a very ordinary series with the bat. Overall the batting looks bad inspite of it being very good on paper.

If we talk about the bowling then also we don't have much to boost about but for the impressive show in the last match against New Zealand. On the other hand I find Sri Lankan's having a better and in form team for the finals with the likes of Sangakara, Malinga and company. They have had a consistent run through the series and are sure more prepared for the finals. But having said that we can never predict the Indian team and what they may do on a given day.

So I am waiting with my fingers crossed and hoping that things turn out good for us. Although we have started winning some finals recently but our record in finals has been bad and we have that tag of loosing the big games. I hope that today we win and for that we will need the team to perform as a team. I am also worried about the form of Yuvraj, it has been a while since he has played properly. I hope today is his day and he hits himself into form and also helps India win. He is a match winner and Indians will need his services if they had to perform well in the upcoming World Cup. Let us hope that our team wins today.

Vaishno Devi Trip

I am just back from an amazing trip to the Mata Vaishno Devi, it was a trip that was planned a few months back and it all went according to plan and I thank god for making that possible. This was my first time at the Vaishno devi and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Although I must confess that after visiting the Holy Amarnath, I didn't find this trip very hectic and tiring, in fact I have been through so much that I actually enjoyed the trek of 14 odd kilometers. I also did not find the scenes around as beautiful as others did because I had witnessed more scenes that any one can possibly do unless they visit the Holy Amarnath.

The weather was hot and it was raining heavily which made the way a lot messy but still we were lucky enough as we had rain coats and umbrellas with us. I completed the entire path on foot while others with me took ponies. It was a very satisfying trip and I enjoyed the yatra as well the actual mandir. I also enjoyed the Atka Aarti that happens twice daily and you to register for it. I found myself completely lost in the aarti and I was singing the bhajans and aarti that the pandits there were telling. I could feel myself in another world and it was a devine feeling. I also enjoyed being on television, yes I was the Atka aarti is covered live on MH1 channel and my parents and relatives saw me and others there.

I was a bit disappointed with the way things were being managed, it was all in a mess with no proper arrangements for the devotees who have come there to pay their heritage. The management of things and how the officials there treat public was disheartening. I also don't like people throwing wastes into the valley and I could see so many things thrown that were all plastics and other non bio degradable items. A bit of common sense should prevail. It was a great trip to say the least. I went there with my sister, brother-in-law and the family of a friend, we were 6 people altogether and we enjoyed ourselves.

Peepli [Live]

The best part about the movie is that it is a short movie of around 1 hour 40 mins which means that no sequences in the movie look like they have been dragged. I would say it is a movie that tries at highlighting the condition of our farmers and the corrupt government officials and the politicians who always try to get benefit from such events. The movie evolves around the main character 'Natha' and his suicide and the story is very well paced, it moves constantly and there are some real good punches to add humor and also to reveal the secrets of the Media industry. There is a sequence in the movie where the reporters analyse the excreta of Natha and link it to Psychology and try to infer what the man had in his mind while he was excreting.

There are some brilliant performances in the movie with the lady playing the mother of Natha standing tall. Naseeruddin Shah has done superbly in the small role that he had. I always like the acting of Raghuvir who plays 'Budhiya' in the movie and he proves his worth yet again. The songs in the movie are scarce but are good. I personally liked the desi song 'Mahangayi Dayan Kahye Jaat Hai.'. Overall an OK movie, I expected the movie to be better just because it was an Aamir Khan production. The movie is well researched, well written but I felt something was missing. But still it is a watch worthy film which has some heart touching sequences and praise worthy performances.

Once Upon a time in Mumbai

I had seen this movie last weekend but did not get time to write about it. I guess you need 2 basic things to be on your side before you can write a review about a movie, first obviously is that you should have the time to write a review and second that the movie should be worth a review. But today both the conditions are fulfilled and so here I am writing a review for this movie. The movie got mixed reactions from the crowd, here is my side of things and my reaction to this movie.

It is a good movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it, Ajay Devgan stands out and his performance leaves the audience in awe. He has reached a point where he can do no wrong and whatever the role may be he simply stands out. He has simply overshadowed all the others in the movie and the only thing that people take out of the movie was the brilliant performance of Ajay Devgan.

We all know that the movie showcases the don and the underworld concepts as they were earlier in Mumbai. But the story is pretty clear and it conveys so many good things to the audience who want to take them. The character of Sultan Mirza is the one which keeps you attached to the movie and you feel so very connected to this character. I specially liked the concept of helping others and requesting them to remember him in their prayers. "बस दुआओ में याद रखना ". I liked the movie and it is definitely a one time watch and worth the 200 odd rupees that you may have to pay for it. The ladies don't have important roles and they are more or less there to add glamour to the movie. The songs are beautiful and lovely with great music and lyrics. The song Pee Loon and Tum Jo Aaye Zindagi mein are the best 2 songs and you are sure to like them. Overall a good movie which deserves to be watched, attest it will not let you down.

Very Very Special (Laxman) Win

India won the 3rd and final cricket test match against Sri Lanka thanks to a very very special innings by the very very special Laxman. It is as good a win as we see in test matches. It feels good when your team wins under difficult situations, today was no different and Indians won when almost everybody had written them off. On a crumbling pitch Indians showed their metal and it took a brilliant innings from VVS Laxman and solid support from Sachin Tendulkar for them to pull this victory.

After a humiliating loss in the first test match, Indians came back strongly to draw the second test match and then they took the momentum forward in the third test match and won it to draw the series. Well this is what we expect from the No 1 test team which boosts of the worlds most formidable batting line up that includes the likes of Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Raina and Dhoni. The bowling department was the weak link with the likes of Zaheer and Nehra missing from it. But the end result was satisfactory. Well Done guys.

This win can easily be attributed to the valiant batting efforts of VVS Laxman, the way he played was simply superb and it looked like he was tailor made for the situation and every shot was measured and executed to perfection. He had a back ache and scores almost 50 runs with a runner. But this was one of the better innings I have seen under pressure, the innings he played against Australia while India was following on still remains his best innings ever. I guess the Lankans missed the experience of Murali in the spin department but nevertheless it was a superb batting effort from the Indians to pull it off.
