In one of my blogs earlier I had discussed this topic without taking any names. Well Yashpal had resigned a few days back and his last day at FirstRain was 10th of July. We have a practice of giving a farewell lunch to any person in our team. We fixed Yashpal's Farewell Lunch on the 8th July for few reasons. First on the last day there are lots of formalities that need to be taken care of and 9th was Thursday so many people in the office won't eat Non Veg Food. To add to the occasion Yaspal's birthday was also on the 10th of July. So we decided to give him a Formal Lunch on the 8th July and then we will have our very own 'Drink and Dine' party on the 10th itself.
We went to Barbeque Nation, Sushant Lok, for the formal lunch on the 8th of July and had a good time. But as mentioned it was a formal lunch so things were pretty formal. But the main event was the 'Drink and Dine' party which was held after office hours at my residence in Dwarka. We have 2 rules regarding the so called 'Drink and Dine' party. First rule says nobody leaves until all the liquor and drink is finished and the Second Rules says if you did not understand the first rule, read it again. This simply means that nobody can sit without a glass full of his drink. Well just to make sure that the amount of liquor is good enough let me walk you through our bar for the day. We had 2 full (750ml) of Teachers (you better know what this is or you are reading the wrong blog), 12 beers and 10 litres of aerated drinks and 2.5 litres of Slice(Aamsutra). We were 12 in all with 5 contenders for Teachers [Ritesh, Kushagra, Gaurav, Deepak, Gurmeet], 4 for Beer[Ankush, Nilendu, Ajay, Vikas] and 3 for Soft Drinks[Yogesh, Yashpal and Yours Truly]. The two names missing that should have been there are Rohit and Ahmad.
We were all prepared and set for the Dhamaka, things started at around 6:30. We had ordered a lovely Black Forest Cake for Yashpal's Birthday (I got three candles along with it from the shop. I am still confused what they meant anyways...). We had a special card with some prints from my heart and it got better when everyone chipped in with some comments or the other. We enjoyed each any every moment, it is such a great feeling to be celebrating together. The atmosphere was electric, glasses all around, plates filled with snacks, the clouds of smoke formed by cigarettes, a song playing for may be the 910th time as no body was listening to it. My living room for the first time saw these many people together.
To make things better one of the person who came to deliver the food offered to contribute to the occasion by singing two beautiful songs. The song that he chose was fit for the occasion. Remember that song from Nazaayaj.. Barsaat ke mausam main, tanhai ke aalam main, main ghar sey nikal aaya, botal bhi utha laaya, abhi zinda hoon to jee leney jee leney do, bhari barsaat main pee leney do.. We had a great time together and enjoyed each and every moment.
The celebrations ended at around 1:00 am. My living room is still unsettled and by the looks of it I can say that its been great fun. As time was passing my heart was pumping and saying friend one of the members who walked with you lived with you is leaving and we are celebrating his farewell. This is the last time Yashpal and all the office colleagues are together, from now on there would be parties but not together with Yashpal and Office friends. I will discuss this in later posts, i don't want to spoil the party mood as of now. In the end I, on the behalf of all others wish Yashpal a bright future and a great life ahead. May God Bless him.
